Goals

GLOWS is working with government and local communities across the basin to understand the system hydrology and environmental flows, increase stakeholder participation in water management, and explore new approaches to increase economic benefits. GLOWS activities in the Mara are designed to support the Nile Basin Initiative process to establish a framework for the cooperative management of the basin water resources.

2008 Tasks

Examples of GLOWS tasks in the Mara for 2008:

Assessing the value of water, current levels of use and demand, and moving toward a mechanism for payment of water and environmental services in the Mara River Basin.

Enhance the availability of timely and reliable water quantity and quality data to water resource planning and management in the Mara River Basin.
