Goals

GLOWS is working with government and local communities across the basin to understand the system hydrology and environmental flows, increase stakeholder participation in water management, and explore new approaches to increase economic benefits. GLOWS activities in the Mara are designed to support the Nile Basin Initiative process to establish a framework for the cooperative management of the basin water resources.

2009 Tasks

Examples of GLOWS tasks in the Mara for 2009:

Development of a Payment for Environmental Services Mechanism in Mara River Basin.
Establish a Public-Private Partnership with Barrick Gold Corporation.
